Caroline Casteel

National Lead Organizer

Caroline Casteel (she/her) is JMA’s National Lead Organizer, based in Denver, Colorado. Before joining the JMA team, Caroline served as the Organizing Director for Conservation Colorado, a part of the League of Conservation Voters network. Over her 12-year organizing career, she has focused on issues affecting everyday people, every day. From a Ban the Box campaign to a Minimum Wage Ballot Initiative to Electoral/Political organizing with disproportionately impacted community members leading the charge, she has worked to center workers and communities in reclaiming our power and pushing strategies for real social change that lasts beyond the confines of one campaign. Having more recently entered the world of environmental justice, Caroline has been finding ways to bring these two critical pieces of the experience of our workers and community members all around the country together: good jobs in a green economy. Together in coalition with partners across the spectrum of social justice, she looks forward to holding corporations accountable to their sometimes-empty promises and supporting people in taking their power back and securing a better future for all of us.

Outside of work, Caroline is a good-enough singer who is not afraid to admit a deep love for musicals and karaoke, a voracious reader of both fiction and non-fiction, an origami and board-game enthusiast, an avid forest-bather and hiker, and a most excellent Auntie/Tia who always has all the candy/dulces. She is also bilingual in English and Spanish and strives to honor her multi-racial ancestors in whatever she does.
