Jobs to Move America condemns the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid conducted this week at the Hyundai Motor and LG Energy Solution battery plant in Ellabell, Georgia.
Yesterday, a reported 475 workers, hardworking parents, loving neighbors and community leaders, were snatched from their workplace by the Trump administration’s federal agents, in what the government is describing as the largest single-site worksite enforcement operation in the history of homeland security investigations.
Workplace raids target vulnerable workers, suppress worker voices, and destroy communities. They do not keep us safer—to the contrary, they further entrench worker exploitation that thrives on a broken immigration system and workers who are too fearful to speak out about abusive conditions.
We call on local officials, faith, labor and other community groups to demand an end to the workplace and community raids that are tearing our communities apart and driving down standards for all workers.
We know from generations of labor and community struggle, and from the outpouring of community response to ICE kidnappings across the country, that working families and communities are safest and strongest when we stand together in solidarity and organization to support each other in difficult times.
We urge our partners and supporters, locally and nationally to stand behind Migrant Equity Southeast (MESE) who is coordinating resources to impacted families and for people to donate what they can to this effort via their website: Migrant Equity Southeast – Campaign
