Marcos also spent 8 years at the Research Institute on Social and Economic Policy at Florida International University in Miami, where his applied research supported labor and community campaigns for increased affordable housing and tenant protections, community benefits agreements in major public projects, and pro-driver taxi industry reforms. Following his time in Miami, Marcos was Assistant Professor of Sociology at Northeastern Illinois University.
Marcos received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the Department of Global and Sociocultural Studies at Florida International University, where he focused on gentrification and urban development politics. He lives in Chicago with his wife, their two young children and two cats.
