Sunari Weaver-Anderson is a Strategic Campaigner from the San Francisco Bay Area, supporting ongoing comprehensive campaigns with the Western States Team. Her work is fueled by a passion for power-building within marginalized communities, and organizing as a tool for shaping a more worker-centered economy. Sunari has a B.A. from Occidental College, where she studied political science and urban policy. She was also a Public Policy and International Affairs Fellow at U.C. Berkeley.
Before joining JMA, Sunari researched transportation and decarbonization policy, contributing to the report The Case for Universal Fareless Transit in Los Angeles. She also researched ordinances to support street vendors in impact litigation with Public Counsel. She has interned as a community organizer on LAANE’s Tourism Workers Rising campaign, and worked with UNITE HERE Local 274 and Local 11 on various electoral campaigns. Sunari was a lead organizer of Rising Occidental Student Employees (R.O.S.E), an SEIU 721-affiliated campaign that successfully unionized over 1,200 student workers.
Outside of work, Sunari enjoys pop-culture podcasts, creative writing, long-distance Amtrak rides and spending time with loved ones.
