Sanchioni Butler

Mississippi Senior Organizer

Sanchioni Butler is a lifelong labor organizer and social justice advocate with over 30 years of experience fighting for workplace democracy, equity, and inclusion. Starting her career at Ford Motor Company in 1988, she rose to become a leading voice within the United Auto Workers (UAW), organizing campaigns across the South and championing the rights of workers in Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Mississippi. Her global collaborations with trade unionists in South Africa, Brazil, France, and Japan further cemented her commitment to advancing human and worker rights on a broader scale.

After retiring in 2018, Sanchioni continues her advocacy through community engagement and policy work. She has served as a Political Campaign Coordinator for the Mississippi AFL-CIO and recently as the ARP Coordinator for the Mississippi Association of Educators. Now, in her role with Jobs to Move America, she will carry out JMA’s mission and values, focus on creating sustainable, equitable jobs, and mobilize key stakeholders driving systemic change through innovative policy development and implementation.

Through her work, Sanchioni remains driven by the belief that true change comes from empowering individuals to advocate for themselves. Whether leading workshops, building coalitions, or shaping policy, she is dedicated to creating a more just and prosperous future for all.
