Lauren Schandevel is the Northeast Campaigner for JMA, based in New York City. She got her start organizing with fellow first-generation and low-income students at the University of Michigan, where she led successful campaigns around affordability and class consciousness on campus. After graduating in 2019, she served as Macomb County Organizer for We The People – Michigan, and later as a caseworker in the office of Congressman Andy Levin. Finally, in September 2022, she earned her Master of Public Policy from the University of Oxford.
Lauren lives in Astoria with her partner, Will. She owes everything to her friends and mentors back in Michigan: Art, Eli, Justin, Bridget, Barry, Nelly, Vidhya, Libby, and all of the activists who guided and inspired her with their vision for a better world.
