Héctor Huezo

California Director

Hector joined JMA as the California Organizer in 2016, was the Lead Workforce Equity Manager, and is now the California Director. He is responsible for implementing and expanding on the California Coalition’s workforce policies and community benefits wins to ensure more equitable and diverse hiring and training pathways into middle class employment opportunities.

Prior to JMA, Hector directed employment and training programs across Southern California for nearly a decade and has dedicated his career and personal activism to leveling the playing field for at-risk youth and communities of color to achieve a high quality of life, regardless of the systemic inequities that make that unachievable for far too many.

The product of two Salvadoran immigrants and a born and raised Angeleno, Hector is the first of his family to earn an undergraduate degree form CSU Los Angeles and a graduate degree from CSU Northridge. In 2018 Hector was named his Assembly District’s Democrat of the Year and, in his free time, reluctantly herds cats with his wife Nicole.
