Antara Murshed

National Researcher

Antara Murshed is a researcher on the National team and currently is based in California. She has previously worked with JMA as a graduate student conducting sectoral analysis on the lithium-ion battery manufacturing industry. This experience jumpstarted her interest on just transition work and her commitment to the multi-faceted terrain of struggle that will be required to shape an equitable and sustainable economy in the face of climate change.

Antara has a Master in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles where she focused on the intersection of transportation planning, labor and sustainability. She also has a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco where she studied environmental science and theology. Prior to attending graduate school and joining JMA, Antara worked as an environmental planner at the California Department of Transportation.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones, including her parakeet Qwerty. She is an avid chess player and also enjoys baking pastries and desserts.
