Alex Tindal Wiesendanger is National Organizing Director at Jobs to Move America, where his work focuses on developing the organizing staff, building out regional and national coalitions, and helping to spearhead worker organizing for power. Prior to joining JMA, Alex served as the Director of Organizing for the Community Renewal Society (CRS), the oldest social justice organization in Chicago, where he led campaigns for police accountability, community benefits, the rights of people with records, and education reform. During his time at CRS, Alex grew the organization to nearly 100 institutional members. Previous work included time as the Associate Director of the Tennessee Coalition to Abolish State Killing (now Tennesseans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty), work for the AFL-CIO, and the New York State Assembly.
Alex holds a master’s degree in social justice and community development from Loyola University Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in music and political science from Binghamton University. He is a frequent speaker, preacher, and trainer. A native New Yorker, Alex now lives on the West Side of Chicago, with his wife, Sharaya, and their two beautiful children.
